Back from Florida

I just realized that I haven't checked the condition of our shells that I brought back in our carry-on luggage!  As soon as I got home I stuck the bags out on the back porch so they wouldn't stink up the house but I haven't looked in them yet.  I guess I'll do that tomorrow morning after I walk the dog.

The sourdough starter that we were given last week at art class is ready to be used. I prefer to not make the Amish Friendship Bread recipe that came with the starter - I'm not a big fan of eating baked sweets. I tasted the sour dough yesterday and was smacked in the face with the memory of my mom's sourdough biscuits that we ate with her apple-persimmon jelly or honey butter. Oh those were so good. So as soon as I find a good recipe I'll be baking us up a batch on this chilly fall day.

Yes, the starter can be refrigerated.  When it's kept in the fridge it doesn't need to be fed as often and if you aren't trying to multiply it then you don't need to feed it so much either.
